Award Categories

SLA Provider of the Year New
Shared living arrangements give individuals with disabilities the opportunity to live in a home environment with a dedicated provider who offers personalized support and meaningful connection. This award honors a shared living provider who has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to the individuals they support — fostering independence, dignity, and a true sense of belonging in the home and community.
Excellence in Service Award
Formerly: Susan K. Foote Excellence in Service Award & Professional Recognition
Named in honor of Susan K. Foote, a Speech-Language Pathologist at Perspectives for 18 years. Given to a professional who has helped create a person-centered inclusive community, demonstrated creativity and/or leadership resulting in life changes for people supported. Recognizes outstanding contributions as a professional in services related to people with developmental disabilities. Volunteer endeavors and exemplary practices are also considered.
Governmental Service Award
Formerly: Nimmo Governmental Service Award
Originally named in honor of David Nimmo, who directed the Social Service Unit of the RI Division of Developmental Disabilities. Given to a state or federal service employee or elected official who has contributed to the improved quality of life for people with developmental disabilities, including promoting policies at a community, state, or national level.
Team Unity Award
Formerly: Residential Service Award
Given to a person or team making outstanding contributions in their community, judged on longevity, creativity, leadership, and inclusion within an agency. Nominees may include children’s programs, home-based and center-based staff, adult program managers, coordinators, team leaders, or whole program teams. This award is no longer limited to residential staff.
Employer of the Year
Recognizes an organization or employer — fitness clubs, breweries, restaurants, retail stores, and more — that has a new or existing partnership with one or more CPNRI member organizations to support an inclusive community in the workplace.
