Disability Employment Reaches Record High | New Report

A line graph shows the disability employment rate year over year from 2017 to 2023. Overall, the percentage increases from 18.7% in 2017 to 22.5% in 2023.

The amount of people with a disability who are employed just reached the highest level since tracking began in 2008.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 22.5% of people with a disability had a job in 2023. That is a 3.4% increase in the last five years. To put this in perspective, the annual employment rate for people without a disability was 65.8%.

The report found that employees with a disability still experience an unemployment rate that is double what employees without a disability face.

The report shows continuing progress with plenty of work remaining. The video below shows what disability employment can look like.
