Chair Yoga

September 16 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
A woman with her hair pulled back sits sideways on a dark wooden chair with her eyes closed, one hand gripping the chair back and the other arm extended straight out to the side at shoulder height in a gentle seated stretch. She wears a blush pink t-shirt and gray, pink, and teal patterned leggings, with bare feet resting on a wood floor. Sheer white curtains and tall red drapes frame a bright window behind her, filling the room with soft natural light.

Note: This event is organized the Providence Library, not CPNRI.

Chair Yoga makes yoga truly accessible for Every Body! In a Chair Yoga class you’ll get all of the physical and mental health benefits of other types of yoga, but the poses are modified and done in a chair or standing with a chair for support. This class is ideal for older people and those with limited mobility or who are healing from injury, but students of all levels would benefit from this class.

Wear clothing that you can easily move in and bring a water bottle. If you have a yoga mat of your own, that’s great. If not, no worries- we’ll have some available!

Classes are taught by Mimi Budnick. Mimi has been teaching for over a decade and has training in various forms of yoga including Trauma Sensitive Yoga. She is committed to working with people where they’re at, and creating opportunities for people to build collective and individual healing through yoga and community.
