House & Senate Pass Budget with Medicaid Funding

JUNE 15, 2026 UPDATE: This budget has now been passed and signed by Governor Dan McKee. You can read more here.

Rhode Island is one step away from a historic investment in disability services.

On Tuesday night, the Senate voted 32-6 to pass a state budget that includes funding 100% of a Medicaid rate increase. Last week, the House of Representatives voted 65-10 in favor of the same budget.

The total Medicaid investment is over $100 million. This funds 100% of a review by the Office of the Health Insurance Commissioner (OHIC). A previous draft of the budget funded 50% of the OHIC review.

Now, the final step for this funding to pass is a signature from the Governor.

This win would not be possible without consistent advocacy from the disability community and a great turnout on advocacy day. Find out more about what this means and how we got to this point here.
