Walmart Buys Carts for People with Disabilities at Every Store

Walmart is creating a more inclusive shopping experience. The nation’s largest retailer announced that carts, specifically designed for people with disabilities, will be available at every store starting in 2025.

The carts are called Caroline’s Cart – designed by a mother for her daughter who has a disability. The carts include a large seat with a five-point harness system. It can seat up to 250 pounds.

Before this change only one in five Walmarts had the accessible carts. Now, every store will have at least two of these carts by early 2025. They have already started rolling out to many stores.

“Caroline’s Carts are a significant step towards ensuring that caregivers and individuals with disabilities have a seamless and comfortable shopping experience,” said Cedric Clark, Executive Vice President of Store Operations for Walmart.

Walmart says stores can request more carts based on community needs.
